It's mostly generic stuff, but there is a huge difference depending on day/night. I've mostly just been there to sell.ĭoes the average citzen in Novigrad even have a name, or is it woman peasant, girl peasant, boy peasant, drunk, etc? Can you find one who has a schedule or dialogue anywhere close? I ask in all honesty, because I haven't spent a lot of time in Novigrad.
W3 npcs are far betting at spitting thoughĪs far as a city vibe, I agree, but compare any non-quest citizen of Novigrad to any non-quest citizen of Whiterun. W3 wins handily in the number of on screen characters, as it was developed for next gen consoles and doesn't have the Xbox/PS3 limitations. You won't spend hours and hours in White Orchard because there isn't much to do there. The reason that Skyrim's npcs might seem shallow is repetition. Skyrim slaughters Witcher 3 in this regard.
She eats, drinks, sleeps and has a very robust pathing routine. In fact, she has more dialogue than all but the most major npcs of W3. If you follow the merchant's daughter Mila, she will run around the whole town and has several lines of dialogue. Why? Both are the first major locations you visit. Let's just grab one of the children running around Whiterun and compare that to a child in White Orchard. Alvor has more lines than the average blacksmith. If you ignore each person's quest-related dialogue and just follow them around on a normal day, you will find Alvor to be much more fleshed out than any merchant in W3. If you want a direct comparison, take the first armorer NPC from both games and follow their daily routine.
My guess is that the writers never played either game. I was reading a couple articles about how Witcher 3 npcs were more realistic and had a more varied cycle than Skyrims.
